Why we own Lowlines

Lowlines are excellent "starter" cattle, they are easy to handle, have fewer calving problems then standard cattle, and can finish on grass.

The characteristics that make lowlines excellent for those with limited experience are the same characteristics that experienced breeders seek in their own herd. Easy handling means less costs: equipment, fencing and pasture repair. One caution though, any 500+ pound animal that gets "spooked" can be dangerous and one should always be conscious of this.

This week on the Farm

2/15/2009 We had a busy and exciting week. David and I attended the Ohio Forage and Grassland council annual meeting in Columbus. Maria and I attended a birthday party for my niece and we hosted a birthday lunch for Gavin. We had an old fashioned cattle drive, well sort of, moving 16 head from our lower fields back to where they were before they tried to run off. I spent some time working on the wireless webcam now known as FarmCam . I also spent some time working on the website. I hope to have pictures and video of all animals soon.
