This week on the Farm

The cows have been seeking shade as the weather has been very hot and humid.  The field could certainly use some rain and I am sure the rabbits with their angora coats on would prefer some cooler temperatures.   A lot of time has been spent cutting and splitting wood as well as clearing some of the smaller trees from the pastures.  We have been enjoying salads from the garden and are still looking forward to the cucumbers and melons to ripen.  Also, we have been trying to work on minimizing our groundhog population as they seem to love to make large homes in the most frustrating of places!

8/4/2009 This week, David and Christina celebrated their wedding anniversary by doing 3 years worth of shopping at Grove City!  They, of course, brought back gifts for everyone!  Doug and I gave our new bunny, Blizzard a little hair cut and let her spend some “quality time” with Stinker.  We will  have to wait 31 days to see if it was effective.  We also welcomed a new calf to our herd.  As per our usual luck, a bull.  Our garden is doing great and we look forward to having some really fresh fruits and vegetables soon.

We had a busy and exciting week. David and I attended the Ohio Forage and Grassland council annual meeting in Columbus. Maria and I attended a birthday party for my niece and we hosted a birthday lunch for Gavin. We had an old fashioned cattle drive, well sort of, moving 16 head from our lower fields back to where they were before they tried to run off. I spent some time working on the wireless webcam now known as FarmCam . I also spent some time working on the website. I hope to have pictures and video of all animals soon.
